2023 PRESENTATION CEREMONY
This year the Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society committee decided to return the presentation ceremony to an online format which was produced in 2020 and 2021. Over 6,400 entries were received and the judges were in awe of the quality
Our guest speaker this year is inspirational illustrator Sami Bayly who talks about her art and its place in creative writing.
We also welcome the message from the Federal Minister for Education, Hon Jason Clare MP, our Patron, Sally Murphy, along with our Judges – Rebecca Newman and Sarah Day. Local artist, Jenni Carlin, shares the story behind the making the trophies.
Welcome for Country was performed by the Deadly Dance Academy under the guidance of Mitchum Neave from Gunnedah.
We thank all the teachers, students and parents who submitted this years competition, the poems have been inspirational.
We look forward to seeing next year’s entries!
